ASHEVILLE, N.C. — A high school student helped the homeless by giving them hygiene kits on Tuesday.
William Akrivos dropped off more than 250 kits filled with items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, socks, razors and deodorant at the Ahope Center
Akrivos started the project after learning hundreds of people experience homelessness in western North Carolina.
“You always see homeless people with beat up socks and stuff that we have and we can give we buy in bulk, but they can’t get it [and] we just don’t think about that,” Akrivos said. “They’re humans and we need to help.”
Akrivos says he raised nearly $900 on a GoFundMe page he started in September to raise money for this project.
